9 surprising benefits of 2020

You might be thinking that you want to forget all about 2020, but I think you might find this process helpful and cathartic.

Stay with me on this!

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want from 2021. I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at what’s worked in my business in 2020.

What have I learned?

What’s worked well?

And what do I need to let go of to let more good stuff in, in 2021?

I’ve always been honest with you. I’m not going to pretend it’s all been a bed of roses in 2020 because it hasn’t.

I didn’t reach all my financial targets.

I didn’t achieve all of the goals that I set.

I could blame Covid and lots of other things.

Yes, it’s been tough, and I’ve had times when I’ve wanted to throw in the towel.

But I still feel like 2020 is a massive success for me.

Why?

Because I’m grateful that I still have a profitable business that’s growing, I’m also thankful that I have an online business and excellent digital skills when I know how hard it’s been for so many.

I’m also massively grateful that I’ve helped over 50 women this year with their businesses. I’ve supported them and given them a safe space to work through what’s been holding them back and celebrated their massive breakthroughs.  Helped them define success on their terms and to enjoy what they’re doing. Helped many of them have their best earning months even during Covid and with the kids at home.  I’ve also supported more small business owners and contractors in 2020 than I ever have before.

That, to me, is success.

I’d also like to share my ten biggest learnings from 2020 so far and what I’ve discovered is right for me.

  1. Letting go of the outcome is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself. If you stop worrying and trust that whatever is coming your way is of the highest good, then you allow amazing things to happen.
  2. Setting boundaries isn’t selfish. It helps you and helps others. Start pleasing yourself more rather than pleasing everyone.
  3. Slow and steady wins the race. There isn’t a quick fix when it comes to your marketing and business strategy; the foundations (which can seem a bit boring to the promises of quick fixes) are essential for your business.
  4. Where you are now is exactly where you need to be. Enjoying now and being grateful for what you have is the key to success.
  5. You don’t have to do everything myself. It’s ok to outsource and get help.
  6. Focussing on what your why is key to your motivation and success.  For instance, for me making an impact is what’s important. I used to think it was money. Success isn’t only about sales and milestones.
  7. Enjoying the journey and the lessons along the way is better than the destination.
  8. You can make an impact and help others whilst making money unapologetically.
  9. Working on you and your mindset and wellbeing is THE most important thing, it also makes everything more enjoyable and allows you to grow you and your business.

So these are my biggest learnings of 2020.

Overall what I’ve learnt is that being an entrepreneur and coach allows you to learn more about psychology, self-development, communication which I love. As a byproduct of that, I’m a better human being, wife, and parent.

Now over to you. I would now like to encourage you to do the same.

As humans, we focus on the negative. We need to train ourselves to see the positives because they’re always there.

Yes, even in 2020.
